She is a chemist who studied at Montpellier University, one of the oldest universities in the world with such famous alumni as François Rabelais, Nostrodamus, Carolus Clusius, and Paul-Jacques Curie.
Perfumes are a family affair for Elisabeth. Her husband, Eric Proal, is Director of Payan Bertrand, an ancient perfume house that has been awarded the status of living heritage by the French government. They have been making aromatic compounds in Grasse since 1854.
